Finding your Passions and Purpose

Hey you guys! Hope your week is going sweet.

So this post was highly requested and I promise I am still going to share what camera equipment I use! The camera equipment I use will probably be a post that I write in Bali so I can actually add some pics to go along with it 🙂

I figured it would be helpful to begin with how I came about finding my purpose and how finding that purpose ultimately changed my life and my career path. So yep, here we go:

I’ve always had a love for travel and expressing myself through being creative, so last year I randomly started following some travel-focused Instagram pages to, I guess, live through those pages because being on lock down in college with your head buried in a computer all the time just doesn’t even allow you any other space in your life to just live and simply be, but we’ll get to that later. Moving on, I ended up coming across an Australian travel influencer named Lauren Bullen, also known as @Gypsea_Lust on Instagram, and her boyfriend Jack Morris, or @DoYouTravel. These pages changed my life.

At the time, I didn’t really know what “influencing” was, I just saw that they were travelling all the time and pretty much made a business out of their personal brands on Instagram by promoting various products and working with companies on campaigns and such. Their photos were particularly unique and their feeds had a theme which was so beautifully curated and pieced together photo by photo. It was inspiring to say the least. Being I had already identified my passion for travel and beautiful imagery, I thought about a trip I had coming up and decided to invest in my first camera. I knew I loved being creative but at the time I didn’t know how to express that creativity so I was really just ambling around in the possibilities; but buying the camera really changed my life and I felt on the inside I had a new found purpose that continues to grow everyday. I didn’t really have an idea where it could take me and I am still trying to figure it out, but I just had that feeling, you know?

Now that I’ve been doing photography and videography consistently for almost a year, have invested money, time, long nights, and all the other things it takes to get to where I want to be, I know I have identified my purpose through my passions. You’ll find it’s much easier to work harder in doing the things that you love. My ‘purpose’ is to show people my growth on a personal level and persistence in chasing my dreams to invigorate others to do the same and to not feel bounded by a society that tries to give you a mindset that keeps you on the traditional path of success… go to school, get a good paying job with benefits, answer to someone your entire life, trade your time for money until you can retire at 70….. like, no. Lol. I want people to be their own bosses and take charge of their success by doing things they’re passionate about, not let success be determined by a piece of paper with a degree in something you studied for the goal of making money (because that is heavily promoted by society, doing things for $$$, not happiness). I’m still working through designing my personal brand, it all takes time and growth, but I love sharing my journey with all of my supporters.

Moving on to you… So you’re reading this blog post for a reason, to find your purpose. I know there’s so many of us living lives that we once thought we wanted but now see or want something different for ourselves and can sometimes feel a little lost amid our current situations vs what we really want.

Finding your purpose is, I believe, living out what you’re truly passionate about. You’ll find below that I talk about identifying things you’re passionate about because ultimately this will fulfill your purpose.

Think about things that you’re most drawn to, it could literally be anything. Are you into fashion? Do you like make-up? Traveling? Music? Interior design? Cooking? Drawing? Puppies? Helping others? Making memes? Collecting t-shirts?

Once you identify what it is, make a list of how you can make these passions a hobby, career, an empire, a business, or whatever you desire. One thing I suggest is not to choose something for the money or to be ‘popular,’ those can be goals to reach but it shouldn’t be your reason for wanting to do something. Next, identify what you want the effect (or purpose) of this passion of yours to be? Do you want to inspire others in a particular way? Do you want to make people be more confident in themselves? Do you want to improve environmental sustainability? Do you want to bring awareness to veganism? Do you want to encourage people to be their own boss?

Whatever it is you feel in your heart, make it happen by identifying how you will place your mark in society and how you can make a unique impact.

I tried to keep this as short as possible for you guys, there’s honestly so so so many things I could say!

Hope this helps!! If you have any questions, you can always DM me on Instagram @Fa1yn. 🙂
